In the short film Sister Wives, director and lead actress Louisa Connolly-Burnham plays Caidence, the wife of a polygamous man (Mormon) who must welcome a new woman into their home, 19-year-old Galilee. Mia McKenna-Bruce plays Galilee. The film is actually streaming on Channel 14, but it\’s probably a British channel, as it was in competition for the Iris Awards for Best British Film and Best Actress. The film is eligible for the Oscars and BAFTAs, and will be the fifth of five female-directed films eligible for the 2025 Academy Awards that I recently reviewed. The story of a budding love between two sister wives is being developed as a feature film in the summer of 2025, with the director and lead actress expected to reprise their roles.
